DANGER
IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE
ROOMS, THE FUEL SHUT OFF VALVES
ON THE FUEL TANKS MUST BE
IMMEDIATELY CLOSED. THE FUEL
TANKS ARE POSITIONED UNDER THE
PORT AND STARBOARD AFT CABIN
BUNKS AS SHOWN ABOVE.
Fuel Filling Operation and Safety
We recommend that you only fuel during
daylight hours. If you have to fuel during
darkness make sure that you have
adequate lighting to prevent or clean up
possible fuel spills. Always have at least
one crew member available with a Fire
extinguisher – close at hand during the
entirefuelingprocess.
• Tieboatsecurelytothefuelingdock.
• Shut off engine, bilge blower and all
otherelectricalequipment.
• Shut off LPG gas burning appliances
(gasstove,etc.).
• Close all hatches, doors and keep
engine compartment closed to prevent
fumesfromenteringthecabinorcockpit
area.
• Asasafetyprecaution,thereshouldbe
no passengers on board during the
entirefuellingprocess.
• Theremustbenosmokingoranynaked
ameswithin20feetoftheboat,before,
during and for at least 5 minutes after
fuellingiscompleted.
• Makesurethereisacrewmemberready
with a Fire extinguisher at all times
duringthefuellingprocess.
• Open the fuel ll cap and insert hose
nozzleintothefuelllopening.Thefuel
llhosenozzlemustcontactthefuelll
opening BEFORE adding fuel and
throughout the fueling process to
preventdischargeofanystaticelectricity.
• Keepthenozzleincontactwiththefuel
llopeningatalltimesduringfueling.
• AvoidSpills-listenasthetankllsand
stopaddingfuelbeforeitspills.
Donotoverllthetank.Fuelmusthave
roomforexpansionwithinthetank.
• Fill Port & Starboard tanks equally to
maintainanevenweightdistribution.
• Oncompletionoffuellingmakesurethat
the fuel tank ller cap is replaced
securely and that it is not possible for
waterto enterthefuel ller pipeeither
bywavesoverthedeck,rainwateror
when washing the boat.
• Checkthebilgesbelowthefueltanksfor
anyspiltfuelorleaks.
• Cleanupanyfuelspills•DONOTwash
spilledfueloverboard.Wipeupanyspill
withragsorpapertowelsanddisposeof
them properly when on shore.
• Before re starting engines make sure
the bilge blowers are operated for 5
minutestoexhaustanyfumesfromthe
llingprocess.
WARNING
Regulations prohibit discharging fuel or
oilywasteinnavigablewaters.Discharge
is dened as any action which causes a
lm, sheen or discoloration on the water
surface, or causes a sludge or emulsion
beneath the water surface. A common
violation is bilge discharge. Use rags or
spongestosoakupfueloroilywaste,then
disposeofthemproperlyashore.Ifthereis
much fuel or oil in the bilge, contact a
knowledgeable marine service to remove
it. Never pump contaminated bilge water
overboard.Fillfueltanktolessthanrated
capacity.Allowforfuelexpansion.
THERE ARE HEAVY PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL
POLLUTION REGULATIONS WHICH
COULD IN CERTAIN INSTANCES
INVOLVE FINES, IMPRISONMENT &
EVEN CONFISCATION OF THE VESSEL.
