IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE
ROOMS, THE FUEL SHUT OFF VALVES
ON THE FUEL TANKS MUST BE
IMMEDIATELY CLOSED. THE FUEL
TANKS ARE POSITIONED UNDER THE
PORT AND STARBOARD AFT CABIN
BUNKS AS SHOWN ABOVE.
Fuel Filling Operation and Safety
We recommend that you only fuel during
daylight hours. If you have to fuel during
darkness make sure that you have
adequate lighting to prevent or clean up
possible fuel spills. Always have at least
one crew member available with a Fire
extinguisher – close at hand during the
entirefuelingprocess.
• Tieboatsecurelytothefuelingdock.
• Shut off engine, bilge blower and all
otherelectricalequipment.
• Shut off LPG gas burning appliances
(gasstove,etc.).
• Close all hatches, doors and keep
engine compartment closed to prevent
fumesfromenteringthecabinorcockpit
area.
• Asasafetyprecaution,thereshouldbe
no passengers on board during the
entirefuellingprocess.
• Theremustbenosmokingoranynaked
ameswithin20feetoftheboat,before,
during and for at least 5 minutes after
fuellingiscompleted.
• Makesurethereisacrewmemberready
with a Fire extinguisher at all times
duringthefuellingprocess.
• Open the fuel ll cap and insert hose
nozzleintothefuelllopening.Thefuel
llhosenozzlemustcontactthefuelll
opening BEFORE adding fuel and
throughout the fueling process to
preventdischargeofanystaticelectricity.
• Keepthenozzleincontactwiththefuel
llopeningatalltimesduringfueling.
• AvoidSpills-listenasthetankllsand
stopaddingfuelbeforeitspills.
Donotoverllthetank.Fuelmusthave
roomforexpansionwithinthetank.
• Fill Port & Starboard tanks equally to
maintainanevenweightdistribution.
• Oncompletionoffuellingmakesurethat
the fuel tank ller cap is replaced
securely and that it is not possible for
waterto enterthefuel ller pipeeither
bywavesoverthedeck,rainwateror
when washing the boat.
• Checkthebilgesbelowthefueltanksfor
anyspiltfuelorleaks.
• Cleanupanyfuelspills•DONOTwash
spilledfueloverboard.Wipeupanyspill
withragsorpapertowelsanddisposeof
them properly when on shore.
• Before re starting engines make sure
the bilge blowers are operated for 5
minutestoexhaustanyfumesfromthe
llingprocess.
WARNING
Regulations prohibit discharging fuel or
oilywasteinnavigablewaters.Discharge
is dened as any action which causes a
lm, sheen or discoloration on the water
surface, or causes a sludge or emulsion
beneath the water surface. A common
violation is bilge discharge. Use rags or
spongestosoakupfueloroilywaste,then
disposeofthemproperlyashore.Ifthereis
much fuel or oil in the bilge, contact a
knowledgeable marine service to remove
it. Never pump contaminated bilge water
overboard.Fillfueltanktolessthanrated
capacity.Allowforfuelexpansion.
THERE ARE HEAVY PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL
POLLUTION REGULATIONS WHICH
COULD IN CERTAIN INSTANCES
INVOLVE FINES, IMPRISONMENT &
EVEN CONFISCATION OF THE VESSEL.
