LIGHTMED TruScan Pro – Operator’s Manual Rev. No. 01 Page 90 of 109
1. Ensure that the system and accessories are set up correctly.
2. Turn the system ON. Ensure that the emergency stop button is not pressed.
3. Verify that the safety filter is installed before firing the laser.
4. Set up the power meter (Coherent LabMaster, FieldMaster, or Newport) CW 10 W ± 0.1 W.
Make sure safety glasses OD4+ @ 532 nm or 561 nm or 577 nm or 670 nm or 810 nm are
equipped.
5. Set the duty cycle to 50%, and pulse interval and pulse duration both to 0.05 seconds.
6. Go into “READY” mode. Aim the output aiming beam at the center of the power meter with a
spot size of approximately 5 mm diameter, or 50% of the active detector area.
7. Fire the laser at 100, 500, 1,000, and 1,500 mW. Compare the values on the LCD screen
versus the external output power reading on the power meter. Ensure that the reading on the
power meter is multiplied by two (as the laser is fired at 50% duty cycle) to obtain the true
output power value.
• For slit lamp LDU, the output power should be checked at both 200 and 1,000 µm spot
sizes. Ensure that the slit lamp illumination tower is pushed to one side to avoid blocking
ant part of the laser beam.
• For attachment LDU, use 100 and 500 µm spot sizes.
8. Verify that the measured output power on the power meter after being multiplied by two is
within ±20% of the power set on the LCD screen. Otherwise, recheck the power meter settings
and laser calibration settings. Make sure the fiber is not damaged.
9. Record the values on the Output Power Record Sheet on page 90. This document should
then be sent to the Manufacturer along with an Installation Report or Service Report.
10. If the output power fail to meet the Manufacturer’s specifications of ±20% tolerance, contact
the Manufacturer for a solution or a service call.
