This is generally minimal, but dependent on the treatment
performed.
Care should always be taken to ensure that possible infection
risks are minimized.
Post-operative bleeding must be considered. The patient should
be observed. The evaluation made for each patient is based on
an individual basis.
This is more likely to occur when using the Endoprobe. It is
important not to bring the end of the Endoprobe closer to the
tissue while firing the laser.
Intraocular lens (IOL)
pressure
The IOL pressure can increase as a result of the laser treatment,
so the patient should be monitored and treated accordingly if this
is a potential issue.
Patients should be cautioned against performing any activity that
could increase their venous pressure in their head or eyes.
Avoid rubbing the eyes, blowing the nose, and prolonging
sneezing or coughing. The head should be slightly elevated
during sleep while recovering from the treatment.
For this laser system, there are several key safety issues to consider:
• All laser treatment indications and contraindications are well documented and readily
available for the doctor’s reference.
• There is a long history for the various treatments when using this laser, so all possible side
effects and adverse reactions are well understood.
• The doctor should always ensure that they are adequately trained or knowledgeable to
perform the laser procedures when using this laser system.
