38. OLE
Piccolo has a simulator Off Line Editor for PC which shows the console on screen. This software
can be used to study the console and to edit/modify shows. It is also needed for some functions such
as for example to print a show and read or write a show in ASCII format
To exchange data between console and the OLE (or vice versus) store the show to your USB stick
and then copy it to the same folder in the OLE program directory. It can then be loaded by the OLE
and can also be stored there. If this modified or new show should be made available to the Piccolo
then copy it back to the subdirectory of the USB stick.
This OLE has DMX output to Ethernet if the OLE is connected to the console (by Ethernet). If
Piccolo is not connected the OLE is running as “demoand only outputs DMX to Ethernet for 20
minutes.
Each Piccolo software version has its OLE correspondent, and only these versions can work
together. Piccolo OLE does not need an installations process. It is only necessary to unzip the
downloaded file to a folder and to start it by making a link on your desktop or by selecting the OLE
file with your mouse.
OLE requires:
As a minimum, a PC with WIN-XP or WIN7. The OLE requires no power in the PC and does not
need much video memory. It is recommendable to configure the PC screen for graphics with 256
colours or for the 16 bit colour mode.
For an easy way to use the OLE, in addition to the mouse, there is a correspondence between the
functions and PC keyboard.
