Maintenance Signal Functions 7
The following are the major maintenance signal functions of the 21G/21G-U/
21G2-U OLIU circuit pack:
■ Inserts and detects STS-1 path AIS
■ Inserts and detects SONET line AIS and inserts and detects line far-end-
receive failure (FERF)
■ Inserts STS-1 path unequipped signal
■ Detects OC-3 line failures (LOS, LOF, AIS, and BER)
■ Detects STS-1 LOP
■ Detects OC-3 line signal degrade BER.
