10.2. MANUAL CALIBRATION CHECK
PROCEDURE
1) Perform the following steps in a clean and draft-free place, with all instruments placed
on a stable base.
2) Remove the perforated lid.
If the air sampler features an Easy-Clean-Base:
Place a MAS-100 Family Calibration Disk or a Petri dish inside the sampling head.
3) Check the lower edge of the perforated lid visually
to ensure that there are no notches or unevenness.
This could lead to a leak between the perforated lid
and the base.
Damaged perforated lids must be replaced.
4) Remount the perforated lid.
5) Place the anemometer on the perforated lid of the air sampler.
6) Start the anemometer by pressing the ON/OFF
button.
The anemometer is in mass flow mode, showing
SLPM on the display.
7) Start up the air sampler by connecting it to the power.
8) The air sampler is now in the Main menu.
9) Ensure that the Delay function is deactivated.
10) Select a small sampling volume, preferably 100 l or more.
11) Start the sampling.
12) Anemometer reading:
– Allow the anemometer 40 seconds to settle prior taking readings.
– Take 3 consecutive readings from the anemometer.
– Note these 3 flow values: F
1
, F
2
, F
3
.
– Calculate the mean flow value: F
m
= (F
1
+ F
2
+ F
3
)/3
13) The calibration is passed if F
m
is inside the range of 100 SLPM ±2.5 % (97.5 - 102.5).
The air sampler must be re-adjusted according chapter 10.3, chapter 10.4 or chap-
ter 10.6 if the calibration result is outside the specified range.
14) If used, remove the MAS-100 Family Calibration Disk or the Petri dish.
15) End of process.
