Using a USB Drive as an Expansion Drive
The following operations will be available by connecting a USB drive as an expansion drive, by referring to the
procedure within the “Connecting a USB Drive as an Expansion Drive section below.
Importing music files to an expansion drive.
For more information about this operation, refer to the “Importing Music Files to an Expansion Drive” section
below.
Playing music files from an expansion drive on your Network Audio Player.
For more information about this operation, refer to the “Streaming Music Files from Expansion Drives” section
below.
Notes:
Use only the compatible USB drives listed on melco-audio.com.
The expansion drive will appear as the “Expansion folder on a network .
Connecting a USB Drive as an Expansion Drive
Connect a USB drive to the Expansion port to use it as an expansion drive.
will appear when the USB drive is connected to the Digital Music Library through the Expansion port.
Note: The Digital Music Library will rescan the music database when the expansion drive is connected to the Digital
Music Library. Due to this scanning, the music files on the expansion drive are listed on the Network Audio Player.
Importing Music Files to an Expansion Drive
To import music files to an expansion drive, connect an expansion drive by referring to the Connecting a USB Drive
as an Expansion Drive section, and navigate to Settings > USB-CD Drive, then select Expansion Drive.
Connect only one expansion drive when configuring this setting. If multiple expansion drives are connected,
remove all expansion drives first, including the drive on which you want to store imported data, and then re-insert
an expansion drive.
Notes:
If importing from a non-music CD, the imported data will be stored in the Digital Music Library, not in the
expansion drive.
With this setting, the cover art files will not be acquired when importing music files.
This setting will not affect all expansion drives. You will need to configure this setting for each expansion drive
you connect if you want to store imported data on them.
Streaming Music Files from Expansion Drives
Even if music files are not imported from the USB drive, your Network Audio Player can play music files from the
expansion drive. Connect an expansion drive to the Digital Music Library by referring to the “Connecting a USB Drive
as an Expansion Drive section.
