If a relay is connected to one of the digital outputs 11 to 15 or 12,
connect a free-wheel diode in parallel to the relay to prevent
destruction of the digital outputs through the self-induced e.m.f.
which results when the relay is switched off.

Use relays that switch reliably at 24 V H and a current of
about 3 mA.

Route the control and signal cables separately from the
mains and motor cables.
