PerformanceOptimization
Scenario
Inthisscenario,emailandwebbrowsingarethetwomainInternetservicesusedby
LANusers.
Themailserverisexternaltothenetwork.TheconnectionsareADSL(WAN1,withslow
uplinkandfastdownlink)andMetroEthernet(WAN2,symmetric).
Solution
Foroptimalperformancewiththisconfiguration,individuallysettheWANloadbalance
accordingtothecharacteristicsofeachservice.
● Webbrowsingmainlydownloadsdata;sendingemailsmainlyconsumesupload
bandwidth.
● Bothconnectionsoffergooddownloadspeeds;WAN2offersgoodupload
speeds.
● DefineWAN1andWAN2'sinboundandoutboundbandwidthstobe30M/2Mand
50M/50M,respectively.Thiswillensurethatoutboundtrafficismorelikelytobe
routedthroughWAN2.
● ForHTTP,settheweightto3:4.
● ForSMTP,settheweightto1:8,suchthatuserswillhaveagreaterchancetobe
routedviaWAN2whensendingemail.

Solution
MakeuseofthepersistencefunctionalityofthePeplinkBalance.Withpersistence
