With the needle bar at bottom dead center (pin in hole 3), spreader link 5
must be at its rear point of reversal - as seen in sewing direction (see arrow
in Fig. 43.0.2).

43.1 Take out the five screws 1 and remove cover 2.
43.2 Turn the balance wheel until the two screws 3 are accessible. Loosen these
screws so that eccentric shaft 4 can be turned.
43.3 Bring the needle bar to bottom dead center.
43.4 Insert the pin in hole 3 of the bearing plate (to block the machine).
43.5 Turn eccentric
shaft 4 so that spreader link5 is at its rear point of reversai - as
seen in sewing direction (see arrow in Fig. 43.0.2).
43.6 In this position, tighten the accessible screw 3, making sure the bevel gears
have sufficient play.
43.7 Pull the pin out of the hole in the bearing plate and tighten the second screw 3.
43.8 Check this adjustment (see "Correct setting").
43.9 Replace and screw on cover 2.
