With the needle bar at bottom dead center (pin In hole 3), the vertical surface
of the needle guard must cover the needle eye by roughly 2/3 (see arrow
In Fig. 47.0.2).

47.1 Turn the balance wheel to bring the needle bar to bottom dead center.
47.2 Insert the pin In hole 3 of the bearing plate (to block the machine).
47.3 Loosen screw 1 of rear needle guard 2.
47.4 Adjust needle guard 2 so that Its vertical surface covers roughly 2/3 of the
needle eye.
47.5 In this position, tighten screw 1.
47.6 Pull the pin out of the hole In the bearing plate.
47.7 Check this adjustment (see "Correct setting").
45.8 Replace and screw on feed dog, needle plate and presser foot.
