Hardware Setup
This chapter presents the basics on unpacking, setting up hardware for the Vess A6120. Hardware installation
includes installing the unit in an equipment rack, connecting the power, making network, data and management
connection to the device, and installing hard drives.
Warnings
• ElevatedOperatingAmbient-Ifinstalledinaclosedormulti-unitrack
assembly,theoperatingambienttemperatureoftherackenvironment
maybegreaterthanroomambient.Therefore,considerationshouldbe
giventoinstallingtheequipmentinanenvironmentcompatiblewiththe
maximumambienttemperature(Tma)speciedbythemanufacturer.
• ReducedAirFlow-Installationoftheequipmentinarackshouldbesuch
thattheamountofairowrequiredforsafeoperationoftheequipmentis
notcompromised.
• MechanicalLoading-Mountingoftheequipmentintherackshould
besuchthatahazardousconditionisnotachievedduetouneven
mechanicalloading.
• CircuitOverloading-Considerationshouldbegiventotheconnection
oftheequipmenttothesupplycircuitandtheeffectthatoverloadingof
thecircuitsmighthaveonovercurrentprotectionandsupplywiring.
Appropriateconsiderationofequipmentnameplateratingsshouldbe
usedwhenaddressingthisconcern.
• ReliableEarthing-Reliableearthingofrack-mountedequipmentshould
bemaintained.Particularattentionshouldbegiventosupplyconnections
otherthandirectconnectionstothebranchcircuit(e.g.useofpower
strips).
