1.1 Perspex Tank
The moving mechanism as well as several ancillary
devices (refer to section
2) are attached to the Per-
spex tank. The tank (
Figure 3) is filled with water.
The water level should remain approx. 20 mm be-
low the top edge of the tank. Horizontal and vertical
lines on the tank allow the tank to be easily leveled
and to mark the moving range of the ionization
chamber. As an alternative, you can use the boxed-
air level that comes as part of the MP3 accessories.
Additional marks at the bottom and on the walls of
the tank allow it to be aligned, using the light field
indicator and laser system of the accelerator.
The Perspex plates are glued together. On the in-
side of the tank, a special sealing agent protects the
glue from penetrating water.
