If the internal battery is completely fl at,
the R&S FSH cannot be switched on even
though it is connected to the AC supply
via the power supply unit. In this case,
the internal battery must be charged for
a while with the instrument switched off.
Only then can the instrument be switched
on.
2.2.4 Charging the Battery
The R&S FSH is fi tted with a replaceable lithium
ion battery. The operating time depends on the
battery’s charge status, the ambient temperature
and the operating mode. The operating times for
a fully charged battery at room temperature in the
operating mode SPECTRUM is shown in the table
below:

Operating time: approx. 4.5 h
The R&S FSH battery is not fully charged
at time of delivery. Therefore it must be
charged after delivery.
When stored over an extended period, self-
discharging reduces the battery charge. The battery
should therefore be charged before use if it is
going to be the sole power source for a long period
of operation.
