To calibrate the Out1/Out2 outputs, please zero calibration the patient monitor. 0 mmHg must be
displayed on the patient monitor.
An equivalent voltage for 0 mmHg (± 2 mmHg) or 35°C (± 0.2°C) is output at the Rec socket. Please
check whether a voltage of 1 V for 0 mmHg or 3 V for 35°C is displayed on the voltmeter.
<4> After checking the values/zero calibration on the follow-on devices, please confirm their correctness
with the “Confirm-Continue” button.
A pressure of 20 mmHg and/or temperature of 37°C is then output. See Figure 25 (B).
Calibration of Out1/Out2 outputs: 20 mmHg (+/- 2mmHg) must now be displayed on the patient
monitor.
An equivalent voltage for 20 mmHg 2 mmHg) or 37°C 0.2°C) is output at the Rec output. Please
check whether a voltage of 1.2 V for 20 mmHg or 3.3 V for 37 °C is displayed on the voltmeter.
o Sensitivity for pressure: 10 mV 1 mmHg
o Sensitivity for temperature: 15 mV 0.1 °C
<5> After checking the values on the follow-on devices, please confirm their correctness with the “Con-
firm-Continue” button.
The forwarding is now active. The same values are now displayed on the follow-on devices as on the
NeuroSmart. Quit the forwarding dialogue with the “Confirm” button.
If necessary, the value measured with the NeuroSmart can deviate from the value shown by the patient
monitor. For this, please observe the patient monitor instruction manual, which contains the tolerances
of the IBP input.
Forwarding can be deactivated by accessing the Continue menu as shown in Figure 24. Outputs can
optionally be set to “inactive” with the Select buttons. Tap the “Confirm-Continue” button and the “Con-
firm” button as shown, in Figure 25 to deactivate forwarding.
Attention: To meet standard requirements the NeuroSmart carries out a self-test once every 24
hours. During this test, implausible pressure/temperature values (≥ 360 mmHg / 45 °C) are dis-
played (on Out1/2 and Rec) for a few seconds. The values return to normal once the self-test has
been completed.
3.8 Expanded parameters ORx, PRx, CPPopt
In the NeuroSmart, it is possible to use, expanded parameters like the Oxygen Reactivity Index (ORx),
Pressure Reactivity Index (PRx) and the optimal Cerebral Perfusion Pressure (CPPopt).
The measurement of ICP and ART is required to calculate PRx and CPPopt. In addition, measurement
of oxygen partial pressure (available for the NeuroSmart logO) is required to calculate ORx.
