5.2.2 Disinfection
• Clean cables before disinfection as described above.
• Carry out wipe disinfection with a standard hospital disinfectant. When doing this, observe the man-
ufacturer’s recommendations regarding dilution and reaction time.
• Dry cables under low-microbe conditions.
5.2.3 Sterilisation
The cables cannot be autoclaved or sterilised with hot air.
Before reusing a cleaned, disinfected cable, this must be checked for functional safety.
5.3 Cleaning the adapter
The adapter must not be immersed in liquid.
It is best to clean the adapter, if necessary, with a soft dry cloth.
• To avoid patient or user danger as well as impaired function, never place or submerge the cable in
solutions or disinfectants or bring the contacts into contact with the cleaning fluid.
• Do not allow disinfectant to come into contact with the electrical contacts (take particular care if
spraying the disinfectant!).
