STEP 2 - Removing Existing Spring Tension
Place the spline operator arm into the spindle. This arm should have the same spline characteristics as the spindle shaft,
in order to ensure accurate grip.
ARM START POSITION
Wind the arm such that there is some clearance between the spline stop and nut.
SPLINE STOP IS
CLEAR OF NUT HERE
ARM END POSITION
PUSH BACK SO THAT SPLINE STOP IS CLEAR OF NUT HERE
Slowly allow the spring to unwind, to remove all factory-default spring tension. Your operator should look as shown below.
Now that there is no tension in the spring, you may remove the spline stop from the spindle shaft.
RH OPERATOR
ALLOW SPLINE STOP
TO ROTATE CLOCKWI
TO REMOVE EXISTING
SPRING TENSION.
COUNTER CLOCKWIS
FOR LH OPERATOR.
