addition, preventive and thorough maintenance ensures the proper
operation of the system. Please have only qualified staff perform the
inspection, maintenance and service work!

3.10.1 Measures to be taken prior to performing maintenance
Before performing any inspection/maintenance work, please take the following steps:
Measures prior
to maintenance work
Inform operating staff in a timely manner of the upcoming maintenance work.
Appoint a person in charge.
Let the system run for approximately 1 minute without feeding the substances
that are to be separated, that is, turn off the processing machine to be
exhausted.
Disconnect the air pollution control system.
Since overrunning may occur, wait until all rotating parts have stopped. We
recommend waiting another 5 minutes prior to opening the inspection lid just to
be sure all parts have stopped completely.
Please refer to “Safe system shutdown”

For safe system shutdown please proceed as follows:
Turn off the main switch
Secure the main switch against unauthorized reactivation (lock it with a
padlock)
Turn off the explosion suppression unit, if applicable, to avoid an unintended
release or false trigger
Wait until all rotating components have stopped and secure them
