4.2 Additional monitoring: Q-FlapCompact II Plus
Monitoring wear
and tear with
Q-flapCompact II
Plus
For enhanced monitoring, and to potentially increase maintenance intervals, the
Q-FlapCompact II Plus is available. In addition to the closed-position sensor, the
Q-FlapCompact II Plus comes with a wear and tear sensor.
Wearing sensor Flap sensor
4.2.1 Wear and tear sensor (Q-FlapCoompact II Plus only)
Wear and Tear
sensor The integrated wear and tear sensor (patent pending) is designed to monitor the
condition of the flap blade. Over time, the flap blade material may erode and wear. To
ensure sufficient pressure shock resistance of the inlet isolation device, the device flap
blade should be inspected for wear and tear at regular intervals. These inspections
should only occur during safe system shutdown mode.
The wear and tear sensor is attached to the inlet isolation device housing behind the flap
blade. The sensor signals when the erosion/wear limit is reached. A malfunction is
indicated at the monitoring panel, but the system can continue operation, and an
emergency shutdown is not required. Inspection and maintenance must occur at the
next available shutdown. Prior to restart, the wear and tear sensor must be
replaced. See also Section 12 Q-FlapCompact II/Plus sequence of operation with
REMBE
®
monitoring panel.
For monitoring the intrinsically safe wear and tear sensor, an approved switch
amplifier is required.
WARNING
If the wear and tear sensor signals, the inlet isolation device must be
inspected for wear and tear. The flap blade, wear and tear sensor and
all other worn parts must be replaced or the entire inlet isolation device
should be replaced, depending on condition. Repairs or replacement
should only be completed by authorized professionals.
If the flap blade is not replaced by authorized professionals, we cannot guarantee the orderly
operation of the inlet isolation device.
