Surveillance explosion
During an explosion inside a protected system, the flap blade is closed due to
the spreading shock wave
inside the ductwork. When the flap blade is closed,
this closed condition is immediately detected by the closed-position sensor.
The closed-position sensor is wired to a terminal box. The sensor’s signals are
processed through the monitoring panel or control system.
Per NFPA 69, the closed-position sensor shall be used to initiate an immediate,
automatic shutdown of the protected process. See also Section 12.1 Q-FlapCompact II/

Preventive and thorough inspection and maintenance is essential for the safety
of personnel working within range of the inlet isolation device. In addition,
preventive and thorough maintenance ensures the proper operation of the
system. Please have only qualified staff perform the inspection, maintenance
and service work!
