e) Lift the flap blade as high as the locking unit allows or until the locking lever is in contact with
the locking unit's locking pin
Check to see if the flap blade is still detected by the closed-position sensor.
If the flap blade is no longer detected by the closed-position sensor after
lifting, the flap sensor is adjusted correctly.
If the flap blade is detected by the flap sensor after lifting, the sensor
needs to be readjusted (see Section 9.13 Adjusting the closed-position
sensor).
f) Clean the closed-position sensor--remove any process material buildup.
g) Close the inspection lid (see Section 9.4 Inspection lid opening and closing).
9.12 Adjusting the closed-position sensor
DANGER
There is a risk that an explosion will not be detected and that an
emergency shutdown will not occur if the closed-position sensor is not
properly set/adjusted.
If the emergency shutdown does not occur, it is possible that the fan will not
shut down, leading to additional damage to other system components.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modifications to the factory setting of the closed-position sensor should only
occur if there is an incorrect detection or non-detection of the flap that is found
during an inspection of the closed-position sensor,
a) Ensure that the system is disconnected.
b) Ensure, through a supervisory person, that the system is not able to be restarted
while inspecting.
c) Loosen the counter nut at the closed-position sensor—see below:
Counter nut
d) Screw in the sensor until contact with the blade is made. Then make 1/2 turn
back, re-attach the cable and check the status at the monitoring panel.
e) If the flap blade is not detected by the closed-position sensor, open the
inspection lid of the inlet isolation device and check for sensor coverage and
location. A small adjustment may be needed to the mounting plate. Adjust by
loosening the four nuts and sliding the plate into position, tighten and check
status. Note: the flap should not make direct contact with the sensor.
f) Open the inspection lid(see Section 9.4 Inspection lid opening and closing)
