& LANC. The LANC is the LAN controller that controls communication with the
sublayers below the MAC in the OSI model. MAC, or the media access control,
is sublayer 2 of the OSI model. The OSI (Open System Interconnection)
reference model, is a 7-layer fruitcake framework upon which network standards
are hung.
' Filter Module. The filter module consists of an insulated transformer and choke
coil.
( FCU I/U. Interfaces the NICF with the FCU of the machine.
) LAN I/F. Consists of an RJ-45 module jack and an 8-pin connector.
