IMPORTANT! Auto maintenance does not perform if the following conditions occur. Failure to perform
Auto maintenance can result in a clogged print head. These conditions need to be
cleared ASAP before auto maintenance is performed.
 Printer is powered off (always keep the printer powered on).
 Ink cartridge is missing or reading 0%.
 Waste ink tank is full.
 Encoder error and other errors.
 Any Service call message (see page 203, "Troubleshooting Guide")
 Front cover is open.
 The ink bay is opened for maintenance.
If the auto maintenance is not being performed, then the print heads can be clogged.
If Auto maintenance is prevented from happening for any reason, the messages appear.
When you acknowledge by pressing [YES], the message appears again in 5 minutes if the
condition that prevented auto maintenance is not cleared (empty cartridge, full waste tank
etc.).
Head cleaning occurs automatically every 3 hours for the white head and every 12 hours for the color
head, consuming a certain amount of ink. Therefore, when an ink cartridge is left unused for a long
period of time, such as during a long vacation, if the amount of ink remaining in the cartridge is less than
the amount of ink automatically consumed, it is necessary to replace the cartridge with a new one.
Example: Approximate amount of ink automatically consumed when left unattended for 2 weeks.
