Chapter 4
Backup and Restore
The Backup and Restore application lets you back up the current system image
on the terminal, then restore that image to the same terminal or other HMI
devices. This function is useful if you want to copy the same system image to
multiple HMI devices.
A typical backup image includes the following items:
•File system
• Firmware image
•Windows registry
• Optional user configuration data
To include user configuration data in the backup image, click Advanced
Network & Display Settings in the Backup & Restore dialog box.
Perform a Backup
To perform a backup, follow these steps.
1. Insert a USB drive or SD card into the appropriate slot on the terminal.
2. In the control panel, double-click the Backup & Restore icon.
TIP You can back up a system image to a USB drive or SD card. Rockwell
Automation recommends using a USB drive or SD card with a minimum of
1 GB of available space. For applications with a large file system, use a
minimum of 2 GB of available space.
