5.1.1 Mounting position

The mounting position for units with cooling fins depends on the application:

In stationary applications, the horizontal mounting position [2] causes a power reduc-

tion of 50% due to reduced convection.

When using a horizontal mounting position for a mobile application, the cooling fins

must be parallel to the travel direction so that sufficient cooling and convection are

possible.

The following figure shows permissible and impermissible mounting positions:
