Vertical operation
In v
ertical operation (for access protection and hazardous point protection), the protec‐
tive fields must, in accordance with IEC 61496-3, be configured using the contour as
reference function. In addition, the total response time of the device is not allowed to
exceed 90 ms.

NOTE
L
ateral, vertical boundaries of the opening (e.g., door frame) together with the floor are
particularly suitable as a reference. If the position of the safety laser scanner is
changed in one or more planes, the distance to the reference changes. The device then
switches its safety outputs to the OFF state or signals Protective field interrupted.
7.12 Monitoring cases
Overview
T
he device supports a configuration with multiple monitoring cases. By switching the
monitoring case you can switch to different monitoring conditions in the case of a
change to the monitoring situation.
Important information
DANGER
In t
he case of non-compliance, it is possible that the dangerous state of the machine
may not be stopped or not stopped in a timely manner.
The minimum distance to the hazardous area depends on the monitoring situation.
b
Make sure that the minimum distance to the hazardous area is maintained for
each monitoring case.
Configurable monitoring cases
T
he number of monitoring cases that can be configured depends on the control. The
following table shows the number of monitoring cases:
