The time master is responsible for distributing the time signal to the PCS 7 components to be
synchronized, for example, operator stations and automation systems.
Synchronization options
The following table below shows the PCS 7 components for which time synchronization is
possible:
Station Synchronization
Operator station and
maintenance station
PCS 7 internal synchronization
The time master can be on one of the following networks:
On the terminal bus
On the plant bus
BATCH station In the case of installation without OS, no synchronization via PCS 7.
You have the following options for synchronization, for example:
Synchronization via DCF77-client
Synchronization via the domain controller as the time master on the
terminal bus
Route Control station
SIMATIC PCS 7 BOX PCS 7 internal synchronization is possible. The method used depends
on the product variant (Page 35) (operator station or AS)

Synchronization via the domain controller as the time master on the
terminal bus
Time master
The time master is integrated in a PC or connected to the Ethernet
network as a bus component.
The time master can be any device which can transmit a time signal
via the Ethernet networAdditional information (a PC, for example).
Setting the time format in a system
Ensure you set the same time format (12 hour format / 24 hour format) for all programs and
devices.
