Operation
Changing the injection volume
n
Switch off the sample stream and the injection valve.
Purge the line.
n
Switch off the chromatograph.
n
Switch off the carrier gas and control air.
n
Loose the pipe unions with which the injection vol-
ume assembly is secured.
n
Remove the old injection volume assembly. The gas-
kets can be used several times. Only use graphite
gaskets.
n
Fit a new, clean injection volume assembly. Tighten
the pipe unions.
Control medium
You can use clean compressed air, synthetic air or car-
rier gas as the control medium.
For trace analysis, we recommend that you purge the
ceramic valve with carrier gas. The valve has a purging
gas connection for this purpose.
IMPORTANT
The carrier gas and sample pressures must
not be above 4 bar!
Injection time
The injection time span depends on the carrier gas pres-
sure and flow. The injection volume should be purged
at least twice.

The minimum injection time is 0.1 min, also for capil-
lary columns with split.
Maintenance and diagnosis
The serum valve is maintenance-free. It should be re-
placed after 500000 switching operations.
It is possible to check whether the valve drive is operat-
ing correctly: test holes are present next to the connec-
tions 1-2 and 1-6. A drill with a diameter of 2.5 mm
must fit approx. 3 cm into the test hole if control gas
pressure is present at the associated connection. It must
fit approx. 2 cm into the other hole. The valve is faulty
if the drill only fits 2 cm into both holes.
