In order to use COM3 and COM4, configure the addresses and interrupts as
described in the following steps:
1. In Windows 95
, go to the Start menu and make the following sequence of
selections:
Choose Settings,
Choose Control Panel,
Choose System,
Choose Device Manager,
Select Ports,
Select COM3,
Select Resources.
In Windows 3.1
, open Program Manager and make the following sequence
of selections:
Select the Main Group icon,
Select the Control Panel icon,
Select the Ports icon,
Select COM3,
Select Settings.
The system displays the current settings for COM3.
2. Change the Base I/O Port Address to 3E8 and the IRQ to 10. (10 is the
Windows 95 default value)
3. When finished, select OK on both screens. The system displays a message
informing you that the settings have changed. Select Don’t Restart Now,
then select OK.
4. Repeat the above steps for COM4, except change the Base I/O Port Address
setting to 2E8 and the IRQ setting to 11. (11 is the Windows 95 default
value)
5. When finished, select OK on both screens. The system displays a message
informing you that the settings have changed. Select Restart Now, then
select OK. The settings you selected will take effect when the system
restarts .
