Appendix A. Flashing new Firmware to
the Ranger Converter 3000 System
This appendix contains procedures for flashing new firmware to both the Ranger Converter 3000 Board and
the Ranger Converter 3000 Extender.

for contact information.

• A service PC
• USB Cable (USB Type A - Mini USB Type B)
• USB Drivers
• The new firmware
A.1.1.
Installing the USB driver
In case the USB driver is not already installed, you must install it:
1. Connect the Ranger Converter 3000 Board and the Service PC using the USB cable.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the drivers.

Flashing new Firmware to the Ranger Converter 3000
Board
Important
In the sequence below, it is essential that you complete steps 5 through 10 while the POWER
and ALARM LEDs are still both active. These LEDs are turned as a result of steps 2. If you fail
to complete steps 5 to 10, you may have to start the entire process all over.
If you already have a newer firmware, you can find an upgrade menu under the main menu.
Here you can upgrade the main board or an extender if fitted. If you select to upgrade the main
board, please proceed to step 5.
If there is no upgrade menu, please proceed with all the listed steps.
To flash new firmware:
1. Remove the power from the Ranger Converter 3000 Board.
2. Press and hold down the ENTER button on the Ranger Converter 3000 panel.
3. Turn on the Ranger Converter 3000 Board.
4. When the POWER and ALARM LEDs are both lit and flickers, release the ENTER button.
