Valves and Cylinder Head
COMPONENTS
REMOVAL
1) Relieve fuel pressure referring to “Fuel Pressure Relief Pro-
cedure” in Section 6.
2) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
3) Drain cooling system.
1. Valve cotters 6. Exhaust valve 11. Oil jet
2. Valve spring retainer 7. Intake valve 12. Valve guide
3. Valve spring 8. Cylinder head bolt
: Refer to Step 3) of “Installation”.
Tightening torque
4. Valve stem seal 9. Cylinder head
: “TOP” mark provided on gasket comes to
crankshaft pulley side, facing up.
Do not reuse.
5. Valve spring seat 10. Knock pin : Apply engine oil to sliding surface of each part.
WARNING:
• Check to make sure that engine coolant temperature is
cold before removing any part of cooling system.
• Also be sure to disconnect negative cable from battery
terminal before removing any part.
