3-14 MACHINE TUNING
REAR SUSPENSION TUNING PROCEDURE
• Remove the rear shock absorber. (4-98)
• Remove the rear shock absorber spring. (4-100)
• Adjust the rear suspension according to the rider’s weight and preference by referring to the table below.
NOTE:
Identification marking paint on the spring end is for spare parts only. Identification marking paint at the fac-
tory is different from this spare parts marking paint table.
• Measure the distance L1 from the seat bolt to the chain
adjuster lock-nut with the motorcycle on the stand and the
rear wheel lifted off the ground.
• Measure the distance L2 from the seat bolt to the chain
adjuster lock-nut with the motorcycle off the stand and riding
the motorcycle normally in full riding gear.
• Find the sag by subtracting L2 from L1. Standard sag range is
105 mm (4.13 in).
NOTE:
Inspect the rear shock absorber for damage. (2-39)
