5.3 Security
5.3.1 Overview
On this page, you can perform password settings to secure your Wi-Fi network.
To access the page, log in to the web UI of the ONT and choose WLAN > wlan1 (2.4 GHz) >
Security.
Parameter description
It specifies the Wi-Fi network to be configured.
It specifies the encryption mode of the Wi-Fi network.
⚫
NONE: It indicates that the Wi-Fi network is not encrypted and clients can connect to
it without password.
⚫
WEP: It indicates that the Wi-Fi network is encrypted using WEP, an old security
algorithm for IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. The maximum rate in this mode is 54
Mbps.
⚫
WPA-PSK: It indicates that the Wi-Fi network is encrypted using WPA-PSK, which has
better compatibility than WPA2-PSK.
⚫
WPA2-PSK: It indicates that the Wi-Fi network is encrypted using WPA2-PSK, which
has a higher security level than WPA-PSK.
⚫
WPA/WPA2-PSK: It indicates that the Wi-Fi network is encrypted using both WPA-
PSK and WPA2-PSK, providing both security and compatibility.
It specifies the authentication mode used when clients connect the Wi-Fi network if
encryption is enabled.
When the Wi-Fi network is encrypted with WEP, the authentication modes include:
⚫
Open System: There is no authentication performed when clients connect to the Wi-
Fi network, and the key is only required during data transmission.
⚫
Shared Key Auto: The key is required for clients to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
When the Wi-Fi network is encrypted with other encryption modes, Personal (Pre-
Shared Key) is required to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
