NORMAL PROCEDURES
1. General
WARNING YOU MUST SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT HEIGHT. THE
BUCKET ASSEMBLY HAS TWO GAS SPRINGS AND CAN MOVE SUDDENLY. YOU CAN BE
INJURED IF YOU DO NOT SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT
HEIGHT.
CAUTION
YOU MUST SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU OPERATE THE RECLINE
MECHANISM. THE RECLINE MECHANISM HAS TWO GAS SPRINGS AND CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY. DAMAGE TO THE SEAT CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT SIT IN THE BUCKET
ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE RECLINE MECHANISM.
2. 5-point harness
A 5-point harness is provided to secure the occupant to the seat. The 5-point harness comprises:
- Two shoulder straps
- Two lap straps
- A negative-g strap.
The shoulder straps form an integral part of the inertia reel assemblies, each terminating at its free end with
a lug that locks into the Quick Release Box (QRB). The right hand lug is coloured GREEN, the left hand lug
is coloured RED.
The lap straps are secured, one to each left and right bucket assembly side structure. The right hand strap
terminates in a lug, the left hand strap terminates in the QRB.
The negative-g strap is secured to the front of the bucket assembly and its free end terminates in a lug that
locks into the QRB.
3. Strapping-in procedure
NOTE When strapping in, make sure the harness straps are not twisted.
NOTE
When strapping in, the Quick Release Box (QRB) must be positioned below protective clothing
(immersion suit, life-vest, etc).
A. Do the strapping-in procedure as follows:
(1) Make sure the harness straps are not twisted.
(2) Fully extend all straps.
(3) Sit well back in the seat.
(4) Bring the left hand lap strap and QRB over the left hand upper thigh.
(5) Bring the right hand lap strap over the right hand upper thigh and engage the lug into the right hand
lower lock on the QRB. Make sure the lug is secure.
(6) Raise the negative-g strap up between the legs and engage the lug into the bottom lock of the of the
QRB. Make sure the lug is secure.
