g) Harmonic
This mode transmits 10MHz ultrasound (fundamental wave) and extracts twofold
frequencies (harmonic ingredients) for creation of the image.
This mode creates images with better resolution in the azimuth direction (vertical
direction in the image) and with less artifacts, providing a more faithful rendering
of the tissue.
This mode, therefore, suits for obtaining clear structure images of an optic papilla,
macular area, and tumor.
h) Scoping
This function selects the image display depth from “Standard” and “Wide.”
Choose one that suits the observation target area.
i) Preset values of gains and dynamic ranges
Preset values of each gain can be set in this instrument. Select a preset setting
from Image Quality.
[Standard]
Each gain is set to the standard value.
[High Contrast]
This preset setting creates images of high contrast. However, its gradation
granularity is low, not suited for observing subtle differences of tissues. This mode
mainly suits observation of a retina.
[Wide Dynamic Range]
Its gradation granularity is high, so that it suits observation of subtle differences of
tissues. This mode, however, tends to capture unnecessary echoes and artifacts
(virtual images created by inflections and reflections of ultrasound beams). This
mode mainly suits the observation of opacity and bleeding in a corpus vitreum.
