tankwhileengineisrunning,whenengineishotorwhenmachine
isinanenclosedarea.Alwaysllfueltankoutsideandwipeup
anyspilledfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Storefuelinaclean,
safety-approvedcontainerandkeepcontainercapinplace.Use
gasolinefortheengineonly;notforanyotherpurpose.
CheckingtheFuelLinesandConnections
CheckfuellinesandconnectionsperiodicallyasrecommendedintheTraction
UnitOperator’sManual.Checklinesfordeterioration,damage,leakageorloose
connections.Replacefuelhoses,clampsandconnectionsasnecessary.
DrainandCleanFuelTank
DrainandcleanthefueltankperiodicallyasrecommendedintheTraction
UnitOperator’sManual.Also,drainandcleanthefueltankifthefuelsystem
becomescontaminatedorifthemachineistobestoredforanextendedperiod.
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposing
wastefuel.
Tocleanfueltank,ushtankoutwithcleansolvent.Ensurethatthetankis
freeofallcontaminatesanddebris.
PrimingtheFuelSystem
Thefuelsystemneedstobeprimedbeforestartingtheengineforthersttime,
afterrunningoutoffuelorafterfuelsystemmaintenance(e.g.,replacingafuel
hose,cleaningthefueltank).Toprimethefuelsystem,ensurethatthefueltank
hasfuelinit.Then,turnthekeyswitchtotheRUNpositionfor10to15seconds
whichallowsthefuelpumptoprimethefuelsystem.Donotusetheengine
startermotortocranktheengineinordertoprimethefuelsystem.
RemovingtheFuelTank
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingunits,stopengine,engage
parkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Placedrainpanunderfueltank.Ensurethatdrainpanislargeenoughto
holdfueltankcontents;refertoSpecications(page3–2).
3.Opendraincockonbottomoffueltankandallowtanktofullydrain.Close
draincock.
IMPORTANT
Topreventdamagetofuelhoses,numerouscabletiesareusedto
securehosestomachinecomponents.Takenoteofallcableties
thatareremovedfrommachineduringfueltankremovalsotheycan
beproperlyreplacedduringtankinstallation.
