SteeringCircuit(5410/5410-D/5510/5510-D/5610)
A4-sectiongearpumpiscoupledtothepiston(traction)pump.Gearpump
sectionP3supplieshydraulicowtothesteeringcontrolvalveandforthe
tractionchargecircuit.Thegearpumptakesitssuctionfromthehydraulic
reservoir.Steeringcircuitpressureislimitedto6,900kPa(1,000psi)byarelief
valve(R10)locatedinthesteeringcontrol.
Withthesteeringwheelintheneutralpositionandtheenginerunning,owenters
thesteeringcontrolvalveatthePportandgoesthroughthesteeringcontrol
spoolvalve,by-passingtherotarymeter(V1)andsteeringcylinder.Flowleaves
thecontrolvalvethroughtheTporttotheoillterandtractionchargecircuit.
LeftTurn
Whenaleftturnismadewiththeenginerunning,theturningofthesteering
wheelpositionsthesteeringcontrolspoolvalvesothatowisdirectedthrough
thebottomofthespool.FlowenteringthesteeringcontrolvalveatthePport
goesthroughthespoolandisroutedto2places.First,mostoftheowthrough
thevalveisbypassedouttheTportbacktotheoillterandtractioncharge
circuit.Second,theremainderoftheowisdrawnthroughtherotarymeter(V1)
andouttheLport.Pressurecontractsthesteeringcylinderpistonforaleftturn.
Therotarymeterensuresthattheuidowtothesteeringcylinderisproportional
totheamountofturningonthesteeringwheel.Fluidleavingthesteeringcylinder
owsbackthroughthesteeringcontrolspoolvalveandthenoutofthesteering
controlvalvethroughtheTportandtotheoillterandtractionchargecircuit.
Thesteeringcontrolvalvereturnstotheneutralpositionwhenturningis
completed.
RightTurn
Whenarightturnismadewiththeenginerunning,theturningofthesteering
wheelpositionsthesteeringcontrolspoolvalvesothatowisdirectedthrough
thetopofthespool.FlowenteringthesteeringcontrolvalveatthePportgoes
throughthespoolandisroutedto2places.Asinaleftturn,mostoftheow
throughthevalveisby-passedouttheTportbacktotheoillterandtraction
chargecircuit.Alsolikealeftturn,theremainderoftheowisdrawnthrough
rotarymeter(V1)butgoesoutportR.Pressureextendsthesteeringcylinder
pistonforarightturn.Therotarymeterensuresthattheuidowtothesteering
cylinderisproportionaltotheamountoftheturningonthesteeringwheel.Fluid
leavingthesteeringcylinderowsbackthroughthesteeringcontrolspoolvalve
thenthroughtheTportandtotheoillterandtractionchargecircuit.
Thesteeringcontrolvalvereturnstotheneutralpositionwhenturningis
completed.
