Use2peopletoperformallthetests,with1personintheseatand
theothertoreadandrecordthetestresults.
1.Cleanthemachinefullybeforeyoudisconnectordisassemblethehydraulic
components.
Note:Cleanlinessisrequiredwheneveryouworkonthehydraulic
equipment.Contaminationcausestoomuchwearonhydrauliccomponents.
2.Whenyouperformtestsonthehydraulicsystem,weareyeprotection.
3.Beforeyouperformatest,checkthetractioncontrolleverlinkagesfor
improperadjustment,binding,orbrokenparts.
4.Performallthehydraulictestswiththehydraulicuidatnormaloperating
temperature.
5.Installcleanmetalcapsorplugsonthehydrauliclinesthatareleftopenor
exposedduringthetestingorcomponentremoval.
6.Whenyouuseahydraulictester(pressureandow),ensurethattheinletand
outlethosesareproperlyconnectedandnotreversedtopreventdamaging
thehydraulictesterorcomponents.Fullyopenthetesterloadvalvebefore
youstarttheenginetoreducethepossibilityofdamagingthecomponents.
7.Installthehydraulicttingsbyhandandensurethattheyarenot
cross-threadedbeforeyoutightenthemwithawrench.
8.Positionthetesterhosestopreventtherotatingmachinepartsfrom
contactinganddamagingthehosesortester.
9.Afteryouconnectthetestequipment,checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthe
hydraulictankandensurethatthetankhasthecorrectuidlevel.
10.Whenyouuseahydraulictester(pressureandow),openthetesterload
valvefullybeforeyoustarttheenginetoreducethepossibilityofdamaging
thecomponents.
11.Ensurethattheengineisingoodoperatingconditionbeforeperformingany
hydraulictest.
Note:UsetheInfoCentertochecktheenginespeedwhenyouperform
ahydraulictest.Theenginespeedcanaffecttheaccuracyofthetester
readings.
12.Ifthereisatractioncircuitproblem,perform1ormoreofthefollowingtests:
tractioncircuitreliefvalve(R3)and(R4)pressure,tractioncircuitcharge
pressure,gearpump(P3)ow,frontwheelmotorefciencyand/orpiston
(traction)pumpowtests.
13.Ifthereisaliftcircuitproblem,perform1ormoreofthefollowingtests:lift
reliefvalve(SVRV)pressure,gearpump(P4)owand/orliftcylinderinternal
leakagetests.
14.Ifthereisacutting(mow)circuitproblem,perform1ormoreofthefollowing
tests:reliefvalve(R1)or(RV1)and(R2)or(RV2)pressure,gearpump
(P1)and(P2)owand/orcuttingreelmotorefciencytests.Thecuttingreel
motorsusedontheReelmaster5510/5510-D/5610/5610-Dincludeacross
overreliefvalvethatcanalsobetested.
15.Ifthereisasteeringcircuitproblem,perform1ormoreofthefollowingtests:
steeringreliefvalve(R10)pressure,steeringcylinderinternalleakageand/or
gearpump(P3)owtests.
