InstallingtheRearWheelMotor
IMPORTANT
Becauseoftheinternaldifferencesinthewheelmotors,donot
interchangethewheelmotorsonthemachine(e.g.,donotputthe
rightmotorontheleftsideofthemachine).Ifnecessary,usethe
PartsCatalogandPartNumberonthewheelmotortoidentifythe
rightandleftmotors,thereisalsoayellowdotontheleftmotor.
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthewheelmotor,lubricateand
installnewO-ringstothettings.Toproperlyalignandinstallthettingsinto
thewheelmotorports,usethemarksthatyoumadeduringtheremoval
process;refertoInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThread
O-RingFittingintotheComponentPort)(page6–13).
2.Positiontherearwheelmotortothemotorhousing.Ensurethattheportsin
thewheelmotorarefacingtowardtherearofthemachine.
3.Securethewheelmotortothehousingwiththe4boltsand4lockwashers.
Torquetheboltsto109to135N∙m(80to100ft-lb).
4.Removethecapsorplugsthatwereinstalledtothehydraulichosesduring
theremovalprocess.
5.LubricateandinstallnewO-ringstothettingsonthewheelmotor.Usethe
labelsthatyouattachedduringtheremovalprocesstocorrectlyconnectthe
hydraulichosestothewheelmotorttings;refertoInstallingtheHydraulic
HoseandTube(O-RingFaceSealFitting)(page6–11).
IMPORTANT
Beforethewheelhubisinstalled,cleanthetapersofthewheelhub
andwheelmotorshaft.Ensurethatthetapersarefreeofgrease,oil,
anddirt.Donotuseanti-seizelubricantwheninstallingthewheel
hub.
6.Positionthewoodruffkey(item7inFigure159)tothekeyslotinthewheel
motorshaft.
IMPORTANT
Donotusetheremovedlocknuttosecurethewheelhubtothe
wheelmotor.
7.Installthewheelhubontothemotorshaftandsecurewithnewlocknut(item
9inFigure159).
8.Installtherearwheeltothemachine;refertoInstallingtheWheel(page8–6).
9.Ensuretotorquethelocknutto366to447N∙m(270to330ft-lb).
10.Fillthehydraulictankwiththecorrectquantityofnewhydraulicuid.
11.Afteryoucompletetheassembly,ensurethatthehydraulichosesandttings
donotcontactanythingthroughthefullrangeofaxlemotion.Also,check
foranyhydraulic-uidleaks.
12.Operatethemachinefunctionsslowlyuntilairisoutofsystem;referto
ChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page6–151).
