RemovingtheBedbarAdjuster
1.Removethelocknut(item3),compressionspring,andwasherfromthe
bedbaradjusterscrew(item4).
2.Removethebedbarassembly;refertotheRemovingtheBedbarAssembly
(page9–20).
3.Removebedbaradjusterscrew(lefthandthreads)fromthebedbaradjuster
shaft(item10).
4.Removeadjustershaftfromcuttingunitframe:
A.Onearlyproductioncuttingunits(Figure338A),removeretainingring
andwavewasherfromadjustershaft.Slideadjustershaftfromcutting
unitframe.
B.Oncurrentproductioncuttingunits(Figure338B),removelocknutand
atwasherfromadjustershaft.Slideadjustershaftandwavewasher
fromcuttingunitframe.
5.Inspectangebushings(item5)incuttingunitframeandreplaceifnecessary.
6.Ifdetent(item7)isdamaged,removeitfromcuttingunitsideplate.
InstallingtheBedbarAdjuster
1.Ifthedetent(item7)wasremoved,applyLoctite#243(orequivalent)to
threadsofcapscrewandsecuredetenttocuttingunitsideplatewithcap
screw.Tightencapscrewfrom19to21N∙m(14to16ft-lb).
2.Ifangebushings(item5)wereremoved,applyantiseizelubricanttoboreof
cuttingunitframe.Alignkeyonbushingtoslotinframeandinstallbushings
intoframe.Applyantiseizelubricanttoboreofeachangebushing.
3.Installadjustershafttocuttingunitframe:
A.Onearlyproductioncuttingunits(Figure338A),slidebedbaradjuster
shaftintoangebushingsincuttingunitframe.Secureadjustershaftwith
wavewasherandretainingring.
B.Oncurrentproductioncuttingunits(Figure338B),slidewavewasher
ontoadjustershaftandthenslideadjustershaftintoangebushingsin
cuttingunitframe.Secureadjustershaftwithatwasherandlocknut.
Tightenlocknuttoshoulderofadjustershaftandthentorquelocknut
from21to27N∙m(15to20ft-lb).
4.Applyantiseizelubricanttothelefthandthreadsofbedbaradjusterscrew
(item4).Threadbedbaradjusterscrewintoadjustershaft(item10).
5.Installwasher(item11),compressionspringandlocknutontoadjusterscrew.
6.Installthebedbar;refertotheInstallingtheBedbarAssembly(page9–21).
7.Adjustthecuttingunit;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
