RemovingtheRadiator
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdecks,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Removethescreen(item1inFigure33)fromthemachine.
3.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
DANGER
Iftheradiatororengineishot,pressurizedhotcoolantcanescape
andcauseburns.
Donotopentheradiatorcapordraintheradiatorwhenthecoolant
ishot.
WARNING
Ethylene-glycolantifreezeispoisonous.
Keepthecoolantawayfromchildrenandpets.
Keepthecoolantinalabelledcontainer.
Discardthecoolantinaccordancewithlocalhazardouswaste
ordinances.
4.Drainthecoolantfromtheradiatorasfollows:
A.Placeadrainpanbelowtheradiatordraincocklocatedatthebottomof
theradiator.Ensurethatthedrainpanislargeenoughtoholdthecooling
systemcontents(5.2L(5.5USqt)).
B.Loosentheradiatordraincock(turnclockwise)andallowthecoolantto
drainfromradiator.
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingor
disposingenginecoolant.
5.Removetheaircleanerinlethosefromthetopoftheradiatorframe;refer
toAirCleanerSystem(page4–12).
6.Disconnecttheupperandlowerradiatorhoses(items21and20inFigure
33)fromtheradiator.
7.Loosenthehoseclampandremovethereservoirhose(item26inFigure33)
fromtheradiatorllopening.
8.ReadtheGeneralPrecautionsforRemovingandInstallingtheHydraulic
SystemComponents(page6–145).
9.Cleanthehydraulictubeendsandoilcoolerttingstopreventhydraulic
systemcontamination.
10.Disconnectthehydraulictubesfromthestraighthydraulicttings(Figure34).
11.Coverorplugthehydraulictubestopreventcontamination.
12.Removethe2button-headscrews(item29inFigure33)and2angenuts
thatsecurethecoolantreservoirandreservoirbrackettothefanshroud.
