Thisengineusesdoublesolenoidunitinjectors.Unlikesystemsthatrequireseparate
componentsfordelivering,pressurizingandinjecting,thisunitinjectorcombines
thesefunctions.Theseinjectorspreciselycontrolthefueldeliverybecauseofthetwo
solenoids.Thesolenoids,pumpandnozzleareinasinglebodyincloseproximity
toeachother.
Theinjectorissetinapressurizedfuelgallerywherethefueltemperatureisconstant.
Uniformfueltemperaturemeansuniformquantityineachinjectionwhichmeans
uniformpoweroutputfromeachcylinder.
Thefuelpumppressurizesthegallerysothatfuelrushesintoeachinjectorwhenit
opens.Gallerypressureisregulatedbyavalvethatdeliversexcessfuelbacktothe
tank.
Coppersleeves,actingascoolantjackets,linethebottomsoftheinjectorbores.
Enginecoolantcirculatesaroundthesesleevesaidingtheprocessofcontrolling
injectiontemperature.
