Aprocedurecalled"ManualRegeneration"canbeusedtoregeneratethelterswhile
theyremaininthevehicle.TheVCADSservicetoolorthePremiumTechTool(PTT)
canbeusedtoperformthisfunction.
WARNING
Theexhaustsystemreachesextremelyhightemperatures.Ensurethatthesystem
componentsareclearofallcombustiblematerials.Ensurethatpersonnelareaware
thatthesurfacesareextremelyhot.Failuretoheedthiswarningmayresultin
severepersonalinjuryandpropertydamage.
DischargeRecirculationValve
TheDischargeRecirculationValve(DRV)redirectssomeoftheturbochargeroutput
backthroughtheturbocharger.Thisresultsinelevatedexhausttemperature.
TheEECUusesthisfeaturetomaintainadequateexhausttemperatureinsupportof
activeregenerationintheDPFsystem.
UltraLowSulfurDieselFuel
Acatalystworksbetterthehigherthetemperatureuptoabout400°C(750°F).Above
thistemperature,sulfurcanbecomesulfuricacid.Theselteringsystemsarepractical
onlyonvehiclesthatuseultralowsulfurfuels.Itisrequiredthatdieselengines
operatinginconjunctionwithaDPFsystemuseultralowsulfurfuelthatcontains15
partspermillion(ppm),orless,ofsulfur.
