Correctalignmentisalsocriticalandisaidedbythefollowing:
•Twocastingnipples,locatedinthecylinderblockandontherespectivebearing
cap,eliminateincorrectassembly
•Sleevepressedintothecylinderblockguidethebearingcapsintoposition
forproperalignment
5ConnectingrodcapsMUSTBEmatedtotheirrespectiveconnectingrodsdueto
the“fracturedmanufacturing”processused.Also,therodcapscanbeinstalled
onlyonewaybecauseofthedifferenceinspacingbetweenscrewholesateach
sideofthecap.
6DONOTusetheliftingeyeontheywheelhousingwhentiltingtheengine/
transmissionassemblytoananglegreaterthan15degrees.
7Cylinderheadinstallationrequiresloweringtheheadontothegasket,thenpulling
theheadhorizontallyagainstthetiminggearmountingplateusingthroughscrews.
Pressedbossesinthegasketkeeptheheadfrommakingfullcontactwiththe
gasketsurfaceandpreventdamagetotherubbersealingringsastheheadslides
intoposition.
8DONOTusestartinguid(ether)onengineequippedwithaninletmanifoldair
heaterelement.Anexplosioncouldoccur.
9TheD13FengineusesanumberofO-ringsforsealingvariousuidjointsand
tubes.ItisessentialthatnewO-ringsofthecorrectmaterialbeusedwhenever
jointsaredisassembledandreassembled.
