Note:Becauseoficebuilduporfuelwaxingwhichcanclogfuellters,itmaybe
necessaryduringextremelycoldweathertoreducethetimeormileageinterval
betweenfuellterchanges.
Becarefultopreventforeignmatterofanykindfromenteringtheltersduring
service.
Installnewfuelltersdry.
WaterSeparatingPre-FilterReplacement
Toreplacethewaterseparatingpre-lter:
1Disconnecttheelectricalcable.
2Makesuretheltercasingisthoroughlycleaned.Ifnotalreadydone,washthe
areaaroundtheltermountingadapterwithasuitablesolventandblowdrywith
compressedair.
3Withasuitablecontainerinplacetocollectspillage,openthettinganddrain
thelter.
4Unscrewandremovethewatercup.
5Usingalterwrench,removethelterfromthemountingbracketanddiscard
itsafely.
6Applyathinlmofcleanengineoiltothesealinggasketofthenewlter.
7Screwthenewdrylterinplaceandtightenanadditional3/4to1turnbyhand
afterthegasketcontactsthebase.
8Screwthewatercupintotheltercasing.
Note:Thereisanew-stylepre-lterwithastepped-downdiameteratthebottom
ofthelter.Theearlier-stylelterhasstraightsideswithalargerbottomdiameter
whichrequiresanadaptertoattachthefuel/waterseparatorbowltothelter.When
replacingthepreviousstraight-sidedlterwiththecurrentstepped-downversion,
theadapterisnotused.However,donotdiscardtheadapterasitcanbeused
shouldinventoryoftheearlier-stylelterstillbeavailable.
9Ifnecessary,replacethefull-owmainlter.Seethefollowinginstructions.
10Connecttheelectricalcable.
11Starttheengineandrunatidleforveminutestollthelterwithfuel.
12Checkforleaks.
