Theenginehasanoverheadcamshaftandrockerarmshaftinsupportoffourvalves
percylinder.Thecamshaftridesonsevenjournalswithabearingcapandsupport
block(saddle)ateachpoint.Thebearinginserts(shells),bearingcapsandsupport
blocksarereplaceable.
Instandardconguration(withVGTexhaustbrakeonly),therearethreecamsfor
eachcylinder,includinginlet,injectionandexhaust.Therearefourcamspercylinder
intheoptionalconguration(VGTexhaustbrakeplusV olvoEngineBrake)withthe
additionofa"brake"camateachcylinder.
Therockerarmsarepositionedontheshaft(fronttoback)intheorderofinlet,injector,
exhaustandbrake,ifsoequipped.Boththeinletandexhaustrockerarmseachdrive
thevalvepairsviaapinlessyoke(bridge).OnenginesequippedwithV olvoEngine
Brake,the"brake"rockerarmworksincombinationwiththeexhaustrockerarmto
preciselycontroltheopeningandclosingoftheexhaustvalvesforenginebraking.
Exhaustvalveyokesincludeashimforadjustment.Replaceablevalveguidesand
seatsaremadeofalloyedcastironandsteelrespectively.Allvalveguideshaveoil
seals.Exhaustvalveshavedoublevalvesprings.
