theengineontheright.Italsousesapiston-typethermostathousedinthefrontof

thecylinderheadandafanwithviscousorair-operateddrivemountedabovethe

crankshaftpulley.Acoolantconditioner(lter)attachedtothepumphousinglters

impuritiesfromthecoolantandreleasessupplementalcoolantadditivesforsystem

protection.

Thebackofthecoolant(water)pump,withitsductsfordistributingcoolant,isa

separatecastingattachedtothecylinderblock.

Ahousingcontaininganimpeller,shaftseals,bearingandpulleyattachestothe

mountingplate.Thebearingisapermanentlylubricatedcombinationrollerandball

bearing.Betweentheshaftsealsandthebearing,thereisaventilatedspacewhich

leadsintoaductbehindthepulley.Thisallowsinternalleakstobedetected.
