3.4 Starting Air Control Valves
1) In the remote control, set to off one of the starting air control valves activated by
FCM−20 of cylinder 1 or 2 (user parameter, function Start Valves Checking).
2) Do an an engine start with starting air (AIR RUN) only, or slow turning.
3) Do the test procedure again with the other starting air control valve.
Note: After each start, the WECS−9520 automatically activates the two starting
air control valves.
4. Recommended Procedure to Replace FCM-20
Note: If possible, do this procedure when the engine has stopped.
If the engine must stay in operation and the FCM−20 on cylinder No.3 or cylinder
No.4 must be replaced make sure that:
D If you replace the FCM−20 on cylinder No.3, the Remote Control System (RCS),
or the Local Manual Control panel has control of the engine.
D If you replace the FCM−20 on cylinder No.4, the RCS, or the ECR Manual
Control panel has control of the engine.
This will prevent an unwanted short engine stop / start.
Replace the FCM−20 as follows:
1) Disconnect the power supply to the control box E90.
2) In the control box E90, disconnect the power supply to the FCM−20 on the
related cylinder.
3) Remove the on line spare FCM−20 from the control box E90.
4) On the related cylinder, replace the unserviceable FCM−20 with the on line
spare.
5) Install a new FCM−20 to the control box E90 in the on line spare position. This
new FCM−20 becomes the on line spare.
6) Connect the power supply to the control box E90 and the related FCM−20.
Note: The new on line spare in the control box E90 will receive a download of
all application data.
5. Recommended Procedure to Replace ALM-20
Note: You can do this procedure during engine operation, or when the engine
has stopped.
Do the procedure that follows:
1) Replace the defective ALM−20.
2) Do a check of the function of the new ALM−20 (outer LEDs), see 7218−1
ALM−20 paragraph 5.
