Question 2 - New Line Nulls
At the following prompt, the encoder expects a 2- digit response (00 to 99) indicating how
many ASCII Null characters the Model 25 should send following any Line Feed or Carriage
Return characters. The default setting is “01”.
This parameter is used to compensate for the limitations of older printers that may not have
any buffer memory and might therefore “lose” data while performing a carriage return or line
feed. The null characters act as padding before new data is sent.
Question 3 - Send Bell Character
At the following prompt, the encoder expects a single digit response (0 or 1) indicating
whether or not the Model 25 should send a “Bell” character (Control + G) out the serial port
whenever it sounds its own annunciator. The default setting is “0”.
The choices are: 0 = No BELL character sent
1 = Send BELL character when annunciator sounds
Question 4 - CTS Monitor
At the following prompt, the encoder expects a single-digit response (0 or 1) indicating
whether or not the encoder should monitor the CTS line of the serial port. The default is “0”.
The choices are: 0 = Do not monitor CTS
1 = Monitor
CTS
The CTS line on the serial port is used to “hold off” the Model 25 from transmitting until the
receiving device is ready; however, monitoring this line could slow the operation of the
encoder.
Question 5 - CTS Busy Polarity
At the following prompt, the encoder expects a single-digit response (0 or 1) indicating
which polarity (high or low) of the
CTS input the encoder considers to be busy. The default
is “0”.
