Withtherapiddevelopmentofnetworkserviceinbusinessenvi-
ronmentapplication,networkscalebecomeslargerandlarger ,the
numberofnetworkdevicesincreasesrepeatedly,andnetworkow
becomesmorecomplicated,thereforethecostofnetworkmainte-
nancekeepsonincreasing.Howtomanagethenetworkdevices
effectivelyandhowtomonitorandanalyzerealnetworktrafcon
real-timehavebecomeoneoftheproblemwhichdevicecarrierpay
moreattentionto.Atpresent,eachequipmentmanufacturerpro-
videsvariousnetworkowmonitortechnology,butmostofthese
owmonitortechnologyareprivateorneedspecichardwaresup-
porttechnology.SFLOWisastandardowmonitortechnologyset
byIETFcurrently.Ithaslowrequirementsonhardware,lowre-
sourceconsumptionondeviceandgoodtechnologycommonality.
Thereforeitisappliedbymanyequipmentmanufacturers.
SFLOWfunctioniscomposedofthreeparts:sFlowpacketsam-
plingunit,sFlowagentunit,sFlowcollector(analyzer).SFlow
packetsamplingunitandsFlowagentunitaregenerallyintegrated
intonetworkdevice,butsFLOWcollectionisoutsideofsystem,
whichanalyzesmultiplesFlowagentpacketsinthenetwork.
SFlowsamplingunitisthebaseofsFlowtechnology.Sampling
procedureisthatsamplethepacketofnetworkontheinterface
whichsupportssFlowandsendthesamplingpackettosFlowagent
devicetohandle.SFlowCollectoristhenetworkdevicethatsFlow
manage,monitor ,collectandanalyze.Itisresponsibleforstoring
packetsendedfromeachsFlowAgentonthenetworkandthen
analyzingtogivedevicetrafcandvariousanalysisreportofser-
vice.
